Rev. Eric Gates

We all need a spiritual home to belong to, a place where one can receive the blessings of care, nurture, faith, spiritual development, and meaningful relationships that are built upon empathy, compassion, and love for our neighbor. Central Christian Church is a spiritual home for ALL, because we are one body in Christ. We are many and diverse, and still we are able to celebrate the love of God as one united community of faith. Although we come from different backgrounds in life and society, we bring unique spiritual gifts, strengths, and qualities to the body of Christ represented at Central Christian Church.

The beauty of our denomination, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), is our freedom to interpret the Bible and develop our own theological understandings. We encourage you to explore, expand, and experience your truth with God; thus allowing you to discover how God’s presence is made most authentic for you.

My diverse background of service and life experiences, including service as a Reconnaissance Marine in the U.S. Marine Corps for 8 years and as an Austin Police Officer for 9 years, helped build my foundation to be of service to others. After finding a relationship with God, I began to serve others in a new way as a spiritual director in alcohol and drug treatment centers in central Texas prior to my call as a minister in the church.

Guidance is available from me and the Central Christian Church staff to help guide you along your journey as we find opportunities for you to live out your passion in the church and community. We are here to support you in your times of trouble, loss, and grief, as well as to celebrate the joys and accomplishments you experience. I offer general counseling services as well as pastoral and spirituality guidance. Schedule time with me here
