July is here and then August will be here before we know it! Back in January and February, we had a brainstorming session and a calendaring event to share and discuss the plans of each committee for this year and out of that meeting came a new outreach idea for us here at CCC! In year’s past, everyone has generously donated school supplies to several organizations, most recently Smith Elementary. However, this year we wanted to focus on interfacing with our community right here in our own backyard, so to speak. So, this year, CCC will be hosting our first Back to School event on Saturday, August 2nd from 9:30 – 10:30am. We have invited several of our neighboring businesses to come alongside us too. Our goal is to provide 100 backpacks stuffed with assorted school supplies to Austin area students in need. We will also offer a breakfast bar complete with waffles, fruit, juice and coffee as well as some fun back to school themed crafts. We have also invited local law enforcement agencies, fire and EMS units to attend.
We want every child to feel excited, prepared and confident as they return to school this Fall. This event is not just about giving away supplies – it’s about building community, lifting one another up and blessing students and their families with the tools, encouragement and connection to start the school year strong.
How can you help? You may donate items (see next page for the list of items needed) or make a financial contribution (note for BTS 2025) and we’ll do the shopping for you.
We will also need LOTS of volunteers – prep and set up, kitchen helpers, craft helpers, backpack distribution station, and clean up helpers. Stay tuned as we will have a volunteer signup sheet soon. For now, save the date and plan to be at CCC to welcome all those who attend the event. Also, please help spread the word – we will have a Facebook event and registration so that we have adequate backpacks and supplies for everyone. All children must be registered to receive a backpack! Together, we can make a grand difference for those in our community.
