Appreciating Church Family

Hello Central Christian Church!

We often hear the term “church family” but I don’t always stop and think about what that really means. I’m not sure why, but this past week I stopped and thought about that a bit. I have some family members that live in Austin…three first cousins, once removed and their children, as well as an aunt and uncle that I try to visit as often as works with our various schedules.

But I also have the CCC church family, and when I think about that, I think about how wonderful it is to have a time once a week when we always plan to meet together. I cannot say how much it has meant moving down here to Austin away from most of my family up in Wisconsin, to have seen the same welcoming and friendly faces once every Sunday, and even though we don’t always visit after the service or go out for coffee etc…it’s been so nice seeing the same faces and sharing a hello. All of those smiles and hellos add up over the years and create that feeling of a church family.

I started in my role at CCC shortly before Easter of 2015…and we recently celebrated Easter of 2024 which is 9 years! To make the math a bit smoother, let’s say there are 50 Sundays in a year…which means over 9 years that has been 450 Sundays. That is amazing to me, that we’ve shared so much time together during worship, and all of the fellowship luncheons, and special events over the years. It’s truly impressive, and after sharing so much time together it makes a lot of sense where the term “church family” comes from.

Thank you all for being my church family, it has meant so much to me over these past 9 years!!
