And how can anyone preach unless they are sent?
As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”
Romans 10:15
These past few weeks have been busy ones around the CCC campus. On Sunday, June 17th, twenty youth and their chaperones from Arlington Heights United Methodist Church rolled into the
parking lot to call our third floor their sleeping quarters for the week. They set up the community
room as their worship space and dining hall while the kitchen was their cooking team’s domain.
The youth group completed various service projects around the Austin area such as building
wheelchair ramps for the Community First Village and working at area food pantries and soup
kitchens.
Then, on Friday and Saturday, 60+ women rolled in from across the region to worship,
study, fellowship and dine with one another. I was honored to be asked to lead the bible study on
Romans 10:15 in which we talked a lot about feet as the theme for the event was “Beautiful Feet.”
We learned more than we ever thought we needed to know about feet! As the outreach service
project, the ladies along with their congregations and ours, collected donations for the Inman
Christian Center in San Antonio and we packed a truck full of much needed items for that ministry
serving the most vulnerable of people in San Antonio.
Now, as we look forward to July, we will be celebrating the 4th of July this Sunday with a
hamburger and hotdog luncheon so bring a side to share and join us for a time of good food and
even better fellowship. Then on July 17th, another youth group and chaperones from University
Christian Church in Fort Worth will roll in to call our church their home for a few days for their
summertime service & learning trip. Stay tuned for opportunities to help welcome this group!
Then to close out the month, we will have a service project of our own. Everyone is encouraged to bring a
yellow item to add to a gift basket for our homebound members. I went to Dollar Tree, Dollar
General, Hobby Lobby, Walmart and Target and just strolled around looking for yellow colored
items! Think lemonhead candy, yellow bags of popcorn, yellow flavored waters, yellow nail polish!
You get the idea! These baskets of yellow sunshine will then be delivered to those unable to always
join us for worship! If you have someone you would like a basket delivered to, please let me know
and we’ll be glad to deliver to them locally!
Until next time, take care of your beautiful feet!
Shalom,
Pastor Heidi
