Playing handbells this Christmas Eve

Playing handbells this Christmas Eve

Hi Everyone!

As we head into the Christmas service let’s have a true handbell choir piece to play. Maybe we
could bring back Still Still Still from a few years ago which was quite a gorgeous handbell song and
not too difficult. We would need at least 5 people to dedicate a rehearsal each week for probably 3
or 4 weeks. This is such a special time of year and a traditional time for a handbell choir to present
a piece for the Christmas Eve service.

This is also a great way to be able to serve the church in a limited capacity for a short time frame.
We will be sure to stay a proper distance apart from each other as well as we continue to social
distance. The handbell choir is something that only works when there is a group of us together
playing. Singing is wonderful because you can sing a solo, or a duet and the piece can be quite
beautiful; however, a solo handbell performance is not something that is especially exciting. Even
a duet can be a little bland…but when there are 5 people that means there are 10 bells that can be
used to make something truly beautiful!

I truly hope you’ll consider playing handbells this Christmas Eve! If you are interested please send
me an email or catch me at one of our services. There is no prior music skill necessary…and
everyone that has told me they have a horrible voice (which I’m sure isn’t true) can’t use that as a
reason not to play the handbells since the only truly needed skill is swinging your arm!
I look forward to hearing from you and if you have any questions please reach out!

All the best,
Mark Kuroski
