The Journey of Holy Week

The Journey of Holy Week

“We cannot truly celebrate Easter without first walking the road to the cross.”

Before we arrive at the joy of Easter morning, we are invited each year to walk the sacred path of Holy Week—a journey that draws us deeply into the heart of our faith. It is a week filled with powerful moments, each one shaping the story that leads us to the empty tomb.

We began with Palm Sunday, waving branches and shouting “Hosanna!” as Jesus enters Jerusalem. It is a moment of celebration—but one that quickly turns, reminding us how fragile human expectations can be.

Then comes Maundy Thursday, where we gather at the table. Here, Jesus shares a final meal with his disciples, offering bread and cup, and giving a new commandment: to love one another as he has loved us. It is a night of intimacy, humility, and grace.

On Good Friday, we pause at the cross. This is the day we remember the depth of Christ’s love poured out for the world. It is a solemn a

Finally, we arrive at Easter Sunday, where everything changes. The tomb is empty. Death is defeated. Love has won.

The journey of Holy Week reminds us that resurrection does not come without the cross—but neither does the cross have the final word.

And Easter is not only about what happened long ago. It is about what God is doing right now—in us, in our community, and in the world around us.

Resurrection shows up in the small and sacred moments of everyday life: in acts of kindness that restore hope, in relationships that find healing and renewal, in courage that rises even when fear lingers or in faith that dares to believe that new life is possible.

As Disciples, each time we gather, we proclaim that Christ is alive—not only in word, but in the way we love, serve, and welcome one another.

This Easter, I invite you to consider: Where do you see signs of new life? Where might God be calling you out of the tomb and into something new?

Perhaps resurrection looks like letting go of something that has weighed you down. Perhaps it looks like stepping into a new opportunity to serve. Or perhaps it is simply allowing yourself to receive the joy and grace that God so freely offers.

Wherever you find yourself in this season, know this: the story of Easter is also your story. The God who raised Jesus from the dead is still bringing life out of brokenness, light out of darkness, and hope out of despair.

May you carry the journey of Holy Week in your heart and the joy of Easter into your life. May you be a witness to resurrection in this world that so deeply needs it.

Christ is risen indeed—Alleluia!

Shalom,

Pastor Heidi
