Yo howdy all y’all –
It is always a beautiful day for Psalm 23:
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.He makes green pastures for me in which to lay; he leadsme beside still waters. He restores my soul; he leads me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will feel no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy
staff they comfort me.
Though prepares a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; thou anoints my head with oil; my cup runneth
over…”
Our gardens continue to grow an abundance of blooms and produce. Surprising for this season – for many plants this time is usually a sabbath season of rest. We have over 25 varieties of plants presently in bloom. Look for them all!
Random iris began blooming again in late December, and the aloe vera plants along our west side are in their third cycle of blooming spikes of orange.
Along the edges of our field, tomatoes and peppers are still ripening. Brussels sprouts, broccoli, and cauliflower are already forming heads. There are wayward beets and onions here and there, wild and sweet maypops ready to eat, and several types of native herbs ready for healing.
The various greens that thrive in “cooler” weather are planted and growing. Kales, chards, collards, lettuces and culinary herbs all are growing, within reach for those passing by.
As a congregation of Disciples of Christ, our cup runneth over.
“When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap to the
very edges of your field, or gather the gleanings of your
harvest. Leave them for the poor and for the foreigner
residing among you.” Leviticus 23:23 NIV
Be well fellow congregants, know joy.
