Bound by Faith
A Note From Pastor Heidi
I was once told that I should conduct myself as though the CEO of my former company was standing right next to me! I always shared that mentality with my new managers as well as each employee, I told them that if they would have made that decision as though the CEO was standing there then certainly they would made the right choice. The CEO is a Godly man who truly loves people and his community. He definitely puts his money as well as the profits of his company back into the communities – both the ones in which his business serves as well as those outside of Texas. As a disciple, this mentality always reminded me of WWJD? What would Jesus do in times of crisis? What would He have done in times such as this? What would He want each of us to do to help our neighbors? As Jesus said in Mark 12:31, “Love your neighbor as yourself”. And love you all did – BIG love!
Together we made a difference in countless lives, ones we will never see but please know that with each delivery made a huge hug or handshake was extended by those working to get the gathered supplies to those most in need. We teamed up with several Disciples of Christ organizations as well as some nontraditional groups but we were all neighbors working to love one another and to help one another in a time of great need. The hurricanes may have dissolved but the recovery efforts for all of the areas affected by Harvey, Irma, Jose and Maria will take time to recover from so please continue to pray for all of those who are working to rebuild their lives after such tragedy. Although this didn’t strike right here in Austin, so many in our congregation have friends and family members who are among those struck by these major storms and their aftermaths so prayers for our neighbors – near and far, now and in all the days ahead.
