Central Christian Church Scholarships
Deadline for applications is June 1st.
Scholarships are available to financially assist Christian individuals in furthering their academic or technical training at a junior college, college, university, trade school, or college of divinity. The funds, placed in an endowment, are available one time annually from interest earned on donations in honor of the following:
C. M. and Aline Rogers
Made the C. M. and Aline Rogers Scholarship Fund possible. Mrs. Aline Rogers was a long time member of Central Christian Church. She and her husband had no children, but were caring and supportive of children in many ways. Aline was a faithful worker in the Sewing Bees, who provided clothing for school children. We are grateful for the benefits of their generous gifts. They were generous, caring people.
Norma Waldrep Naumann
Was a dedicated and beloved teacher of children, an energetic and enthusiastic athlete, and a friend of many. Norma’s first and second grade students at Spicewood Elementary School were a delight to her, and she was a delight to them. She enjoyed swimming, water-skiing, and tennis, and she was an avid jogger. Her gentle and optimistic spirit attracted to her side many, many friends – all of whom were deeply grieved by her illness and early death at age 27. Recipients may only receive this scholarship one time.
CWF & Luther and Marjorie Bailey Scholarships
Christian Women’s Fellowship in partnership with Luther and Marjorie Bailey have established this fund in honor and in memory of the Sewing Bees which was established in 1969. It was the dream of Georgia Smith to help young people achieve their dreams. This fund continues to grow in the permanent endowment as the CWF continues to make donations in honor and memory of people that have influenced lives at Central Christian Church. Scholarship funds were established in honor and in memory of Louis H Shaffman Jr, Gene Flummer, George Rowe, and Edna T Anderson in endowments to financially assist individuals in preparing for ministry in the Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, through an accredited seminary.
The scholarship program is open to Christian individuals who have received a high school diploma or completed a high school equivalency program and are pursuing a degree in higher education at an accredited institution. Undergraduates as well as graduate students are eligible for these scholarships. Undergraduate students must be enrolled in a minimum of 9 hours.
